2010-06-21: People of the Mountain

And here are a few photos of the people on the streets in town...

2010-06-21: Into the Mountain Town

I will stay about 10 days in a town (city?) up in the mountains. About 2000m above sea level. Here are a few photos of my first views of the streets in town.

2010-06-21: Mountain farm views

Lots of farm areas along the way. Here are a few of the sights.

2010-06-21: Watch out for the animals!

The village communities in the area are very rural and agricultural. And when you're on the road, you have to be careful not to hit any animals, as you'll be certain to be required to pay for the damage done! I never managed to get a good shot of a buffalo or the grazing sheep. And since the photos are taken from the car, many are only from the rear :(

2010-06-21: Snapshots of the mountain villages

Some snapshots of villages/townships along the way.

2010-06-21: Views up the mountain roads

Here are a few of the scenery out the window of the car as we drove up the mountain road.

2010-06-21: Always building...

Everywhere I go in China, always seems to be someone building something...

2010-06-21: City Sights in Sichuan Province

A few shots from the outskirts of the city, and just outside it...

2010-06-21: Hillside tombs?

I think these are hillside tombs near the city, but not 100% sure...

2010-06-21: Unlike students, normal Chinese people sleep when is dark...

We got off the overnight train about 4am in the morning or so. The streets are pretty deserted at that time of the day. Just a few street vendors getting ready for serving breakfast...

2010-06-20: Church in Kunming

Visited one of the registered, "Three Self" churches in Kunming (St John's?). A friend translated for me. Preaching was quite good, and I enjoyed the service, both challenging and encouraging. We were reminded to live out in practice what we are told in the Bible, and what we believe as Christians. Also had great little Christian bookshop there, and could get parallel ESV-CUV Bible for only 50RMB. (And I'm told maybe can get them even lower price elsewhere.)

2010-06-18: Buffet breakfast in Kunming

I stayed in a hotel in Kunming, and enjoyed the buffet breakfasts there. I didn't resist all the sweet food, after all the Chinese food over the previous days. The hotel was about AU$30-$40 per night, for a twin share, western-style room.

2010-06-17: Leaving Shenzhen

Time to say goodbye to Shenzhen.
